BRYAN PROBETS
BIOGRAPHY
Born in England in 1971 Bryan Probets was raised in Brisbane, Australia. From an early age Probets had a passion for performing, starting classical dance at age three with his two sisters.
Probets continued to train in dance into his early teens, and whilst he loved his dance he discovered a strong passion for acting during his high school years. Following graduation and after completing a degree in Humanities at Griffith University graduating with Honors he further pursued this passion by studying acting at the University of Southern Queensland graduating with a Bachelor of Creative Arts in 1995.
His studies have lead to a strong career in film, television and theatre. In 2003 Probets was a member of Queensland Theatre Company's emerging actors' ensemble winning the Equity award for best emerging actor for that year.
His credits with Queensland Theatre Company include The Importance of Being Earnest, Private Fears in Public Places, A Christmas Carol (playing the role of Scrooge), Mano Nera, The Cherry Orchard, The Venetian Twins, Scapin, The Lonesome West, and The Road to the She-Devil's Salon. Other theatre credits include Wishing Well, The Danger Age, The Year Nick McGowan Came to Stay, Operator, Creche and Burn, Way Out West and Milo's Wake (La Boite Theatre), The Man Who Sold the World (Zen Zen Zo) The Woman in Black, Love's Labour's Lost, As You Like it (Harvest Rain Theatre), and The Legend of King Omalley (On Giant's Shoulders).
Probets has also been recognized further for his theatre work receiving the Matilda Award Commendation for his work for in The Lonesome West and The Road to the She-Devil's Salon.
His film credits include The Proposition, Nim's Island, Subdivision, Daybreakers, The Horseman, Hildegarde and Triangle. Television roles have included Love Weights, The Pyjama Girl, Fat Cow Motel, The Starter Wife and Monarch Cove,
Bryan is not only known for his stage and film talent, he is also a well versed voice over artist, used regular in radio and most notably the international CGI series Farmkids playing a Geriatric Rooster and a megalomaniac Goldfish.
Bryan is also a singer and guitarist and in this capacity toured in the La Boite Theatre/ Performing Lines production of Milo's Wake in 2002.
In his spare time he enjoys the company of his wife and three lovely children and is a great lover of jazz.
